Q: How often do I need to change the oil in my vehicle?

A: There are many variables that determine how often an oil change is needed (climate, drive time, highway or city street driving, etc.) You should refer to the Scheduled Maintenance section in your vehicle's Owner's Manual.

Q: How often should I rotate my tires?

A: Your tires should be rotated every 5,000 miles.  Neglecting to rotate your vehicle's tires will cause premature tire wear.

Q: What does it mean if my "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light comes on?

A: There are many sensors and computerized components that manage your vehicle's engine performance and emissions.  When an issue with the vehicle's performance is detected, the check engine light is illuminated.  Although your car may seem to run fine, it is important to have the issue addressed to prevent mechanical damage or more serious issues from occurring.

Q: Can I bring my vehicle to Mungenast Toyota for service even though I purchased my vehicle at another Toyota dealer?

A: Yes, you may bring your vehicle to us for any service regardless of where you purchased your Toyota. All factory and extended warranties can be used here.

Q: I do not own a Toyota vehicle.  Can Mungenast Alton Toyota-Scion work on my car?


A: Yes.  Our ASE-Certified technicians are trained to service all makes and models.  Regardless of what you drive, we are committed to providing excellent service at a competitive price.

Q: What should I do if I need service?

A: Schedule an appointment online here, or you may also call our service department at (877) 429-1827 to schedule an appointment.

Q: Do I have to make an appointment to have service done?

A: Although an appointment is recommended for all services at Mungenast Toyota, we will make every effort to provide outstanding service to anyone, anytime.

Q: Can I pick up and drop off my vehicle after business hours?

A: Yes, we can accommodate any schedule with Early Bird Service or our After Hours Drop Off. See your Service Advisor for details.

Q: What type of warranty do you offer on your services?

A: All work done by Mungenast Alton Toyota-Scion is warranted for the period of one year or 12,000 miles from date of install (whichever comes first). Some items, when replaced, are even warranted for as long as you own your Toyota - See your Service Advisor for details.

Q: Why use Toyota Certified Technicians?

A: Nobody knows your Toyota better than a factory-trained, Toyota Certified Technician. Mungenast Alton Toyota-Scion invests in our technicians by continuing their training and maintaining their esteemed certifications through Toyota. Because our staff receives training directly from the manufacturer, they are able to use the latest equipment and diagnostics specifically designed for your vehicle. There is no such thing as a Toyota-Certified Technician outside the Toyota dealership network.

Q: Why use Toyota Original Parts over aftermarket alternatives?

A: Toyota factory parts are made specifically to fit your vehicle. They have been engineered to the strict tolerances your vehicle requires and offers superior protection and a nationwide warranty directly from Toyota. They are, without question, your best vehicle protection.

Q: Will I pay a higher price to service my vehicle at Mungenast Alton Toyota-Scion than the independents?

A: No, because Mungenast Alton Toyota-Scion shops the competition quarterly to ensure competitive pricing. All Toyota services provide excellent value and protection, with an outstanding warranty. From oil changes to tire replacements, Mungenast Alton Toyota-Scion aims to give you the lowest possible price while offering the highest value for your money.

Q: How often should I check my tire pressures?  What's the best pressure to keep them at?

A: You should check your tire pressures every 1,000 miles or monthly, whichever comes first.  We have found that most Toyota vehicles perform best at 32 PSI checked cold. See your Owner's Manual or tire sidewall for details.

Q: Do you have a Body Shop?

A: Mungenast Automotive Family Collision Assistance Centers have two locations to serve you. We offer on-site evaluation right here at our dealership and have a certified estimator to handle all your collision needs. Contact your Service Adviser for details.

Q: Do you sell tires?

A: Yes, we stock all major brands of tires made specifically for your Toyota. Our tires come with a free road hazard warranty and complimentary rotations with the purchase of four.

Q: How often should I wax my vehicle?

A: Although there is no set timetable for this service, Mungenast Alton Toyota-Scion has found that hand waxing the exterior annually is most beneficial for the maximum protection of most vehicles. However, exposure to the elements diminishes wax more quickly, therefore additional protection is recommended more often for vehicles that are left outside all the time. Q: Is it really necessary to replace my timing belt at the recommended interval?

A: Yes. The failure of replacing a timing belt as recommended by Toyota will result in major engine damage. The cost of repairing an engine with a broken timing belt is much greater than the cost of timing belt replacement.  Please note that your late-model vehicle may come equipped with a maintenance-free timing chain.
