Toyota Aims to Begin Development of Smart Mobility Society

Toyota has collaborated with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, a press release says, to seek to launch technologies for the creation of a Smart Mobility Society.

The two companies will work on developing, verifying, and standardizing technology in the connected car industry. They will do this by combining the automotive vehicle-related technologies of Toyota with the information and communication technologies (ICT) of NTT Group companies.

The two groups also hope to solve various issues facing society, including traffic accidents and congestion.

According to the press release, Toyota’s role will be based on its knowledge of car use cases and data requirements on the vehicle side, and to explore and cultivate an ICT program for connected cars, aimed at mobility service value creation.
